Why Train as a TLB Operator?
The TLB is the workhorse of the construction industry. Certified operators enjoy stable employment and good earnings. Here's why this course is a smart move:
Solid Earning Potential
Entry-level TLB operators earn R15,000–R20,000 per month. Experienced operators with multi‑machine skills can earn R25,000+ plus benefits.
High Demand
Construction, infrastructure, and agriculture all need skilled TLB operators. The CIDB reports a persistent skills shortage in this trade.
Career Progression
Start on TLBs, then cross‑train to excavators, graders, or dozers. Each QCTO ticket increases your value. Many of our graduates become site supervisors.
Work Anywhere
QCTO qualifications are recognised across SADC and beyond. TLB operators find work in Africa, the Middle East, and Australia.
Where Do TLB Operators Work?
A QCTO TLB qualification opens doors across many industries:
Construction & Civil Engineering
- Residential & Commercial Building: Trenching for foundations, drainage, and services

- Demolition & Site Clearance: Light demolition and material handling
Agriculture & Rural Development
- Farm Infrastructure: Digging irrigation channels, dams, and fencing posts
- Land Clearing: Tree‑pulling and levelling
