First Aid Level 3 is an advanced first aid course tailored for individuals who need to respond to workplace emergencies and manage serious injuries confidently. Offered by Real Skills Training Institute, this course provides in-depth training in emergency first aid in the workplace, equipping participants with the advanced skills needed to handle critical situations such as fractures, shock, burns, chest injuries, and unconsciousness.
This workplace first aid training is ideal for safety officers, supervisors, and designated first aiders who are responsible for health and safety compliance in medium to high-risk industries. Participants will gain practical experience in casualty management, occupational health and safety, CPR, multiple casualty handling, and even emergency childbirth.
On successful completion, learners receive a First Aid Certificate, demonstrating their competency in delivering advanced first aid skills until emergency medical services take over. This course ensures your organization meets regulatory standards while empowering your staff with life-saving capabilities.
Topic Content Description The Principle of First Aid and Safety Learners are introduced to the foundations of first aid, including the goals of emergency care, legal considerations, personal safety, and how to protect both themselves and the casualty in high-risk environments. Anatomy and Physiology A more advanced look at the structure and function of the human body systems—particularly those related to circulation, respiration, and musculoskeletal systems—essential for understanding injury mechanisms and appropriate interventions. The Emergency Situation Covers comprehensive scene management techniques: how to assess safety, prioritize care using the triage method, identify potential dangers, and apply effective communication in high-pressure situations. Choking Advanced response techniques to choking incidents in adults, children, and infants using back blows, abdominal thrusts, and chest thrusts. Includes complications and post-care observations. Wounds and Bleeding Identification and management of different types of wounds (e.g., abrasions, lacerations, punctures). Techniques for controlling bleeding using direct pressure, elevation, pressure points, and tourniquets. Shock, Unconsciousness and Fainting Understanding the types and causes of shock (e.g., hypovolemic, anaphylactic, cardiogenic), how to recognize early symptoms, and how to provide immediate support to stabilize the casualty. Fractures Covers open and closed fractures, signs of broken bones, and immobilization techniques using splints and bandages. Also includes spinal precautions and managing possible head injuries. Pelvic and Abdominal Injuries Teaches how to recognize internal injuries in the pelvic and abdominal regions, including signs of internal bleeding and the importance of minimal movement to prevent further damage. Joints and Strains Covers how to handle sprains, dislocations, and muscular strains. Includes use of RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) and when to refer to medical care. Transportation Proper methods of moving an injured or unconscious person, including log rolls, carries, and stretcher use. Emphasizes spinal protection and casualty comfort. Burns Classification of burns (1st, 2nd, 3rd degree), initial care, cooling techniques, infection prevention, and when to seek urgent medical attention. Chest Injuries Recognition and management of open and closed chest injuries, including fractured ribs, flail chest, and penetrating trauma. Use of chest seals and stabilization methods are introduced. Hand Injuries Focused management of injuries to the hand such as deep cuts, crush injuries, and amputations. Emphasis on controlling bleeding, infection control, and preserving function. Eye Injuries First aid for chemical splashes, foreign objects, and blunt trauma. Teaches flushing techniques and the importance of not applying pressure or attempting removal of embedded items. Multiple Casualty Management Introduction to triage systems used during mass casualty events, prioritizing care based on severity, and coordinating emergency responses in a disaster situation. Environmental Illnesses and Injuries Covers conditions such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, hypothermia, and frostbite. Learners are trained to recognize symptoms and apply proper interventions. Poisoning, Bites and Stings First aid for ingested, inhaled, and skin-contact poisons. Management of insect bites, snakebites, and allergic reactions, including use of epinephrine auto-injectors if trained. Chest Pain and Paralysis Recognizing cardiac events and possible stroke symptoms. Learners are taught to administer initial support, take vitals, and provide comfort while awaiting emergency services. Epilepsy Proper response to seizures, including protection of the person from harm, what to avoid (e.g., restraining the person or putting objects in the mouth), and post-seizure care. Water Accidents Emergency response to near-drowning incidents. Includes rescue breathing, clearing airways, spinal precautions in water, and treating hypothermia. Emergency Childbirth Teaches the basics of assisting in an unplanned childbirth, recognizing signs of labor, providing emotional support, delivering the baby safely if needed, and managing aftercare until professionals arrive.
