A reach stacker is a heavy-duty wheeled vehicle designed to lift, move, and stack intermodal shipping containers — both at height and across multiple rows. Unlike forklifts, reach stackers use an extendable boom arm (the "reach") that allows the operator to pick containers from the second or third row of a stack without having to move adjacent containers. The full reach stacker operator training course costs R5,000 all-inclusive. No prior experience and no driver's license is required to enrol in reach stacker training. The course is designed to take complete beginners from zero knowledge to full operational competency in 5 days. You need only be 18 years or older, physically fit, and able to read and follow instructions in English.
