Superlink driver training — also referred to as side tipper driver training and horse and trailer truck training — is an advanced occupational course that equips qualified Code 14 (EC) license holders with the professional skills needed to operate superlink articulated trucks safely and competently in South Africa's demanding transport and logistics industry. At Real Skills Technical FET, our 2-week program combines structured classroom theory with intensive hands-on practical driving — you train on real trucks until you are fully competent and job-ready.
What Is Superlink Training?
A superlink is an articulated truck combination where a horse (the powered tractor unit) pulls one or more trailers — most commonly two semi-trailers connected via a converter dolly. These vehicles are used extensively in South Africa's bulk transport sector for moving agricultural produce, mining materials, construction aggregates, and commercial freight across long distances.
Superlink training, side tipper training, and horse-and-trailer training all refer to the same category of vehicle operation. The specific terminology depends on the industry and application:

Our Superlink training is advanced-level — it builds on existing driving competency rather than teaching basic truck driving from scratch:
Who Can Enrol
- Valid Code 14 (EC) driver's license — this is a firm prerequisite, no exceptions
- Minimum age 18 years — in practice, most students are 21+ due to Code 14 eligibility requirements
- Physically fit for extended driving sessions, climbing in/out of cab, and operating hydraulic controls
- Literacy: Able to read and understand training materials in English (no matric required beyond Code 14)
- Valid South African ID or passport accepted for enrolment
- No prior superlink experience required — the course starts from fundamental coupling and builds to full competency

Payment can be made via EFT or cash; payment plans are available on request.
